GALERIES LAFAYETTE
OFFICIAL WEBSITEGTM Digital Strategy for Europe’s Largest Department Store
Galeries Lafayette, the iconic Parisian department store established in 1893, is renowned for its luxury and palace-like decor. Beneath its Byzantine dome adorned with golden flowers, shopping becomes a true pleasure, reminiscent of a medieval celebration.
When the brand entered the Chinese market in 2013, I was tasked with designing the official Chinese website. The design direction focused on merging high-end fashion and designer brand aesthetics with French romanticism, while introducing bold innovations tailored to the Chinese market. The site featured a range of topics and a distinctive Baroque style, making the design process both unique and engaging.
Given that many consumers were unfamiliar with Galeries Lafayette at the time, I began by designing a visual poster (BANNER) titled "New Species." This served as the foundation for enhancing the visual system of the Chinese version of the website, ensuring it echoed the French version while adding an intriguing and localized touch.
